What is an Internet Operating System?

The Internet OS behind the icloud service is Xcerion XML Internet OS/3 (XIOS/3), a product that has been under development since 2001. XIOS/3 is the answer to many shortcomings of today’s traditional operating systems, be it Windows, Mac OS, or Linux. If you are like millions of other users out there, you probably asked yourself once or twice why you need to have a computer science degree in order install or upgrade software. You probably had days when you wished that awful things would happen to the virus programmer whose program just messed up your computer. If you’re a person with a busy social agenda, you probably asked yourself why you and your friends can’t view each others calendars in Outlook. Have you ever missed a deadline because you forgot to copy an important document to your USB memory stick or mail it to yourself? These are just but a few scenarios where an Internet OS would have made your day.

Tons of Free Software

XIOS/3 was built with open source in mind and has attracted a great following from the worldwide application developer community. This means that you will have free access to hundreds of applications in many different categories ranging from games/entertainment to personal finance and productivity tools. As the number of XIOS/3 users grows, so will the number of free applications. In addition, if you find an application that you really like but you really like to change a minor detail, that’s possible! In XIOS/3 there’s a marketplace for software modifications. So if you prefer not to get your hands dirty and do the modification by yourself, you can ask a developer to provide it for you. In XIOS/3, no need is too small or too irrelevant to be satisfied.

Accessibility

XIOS/3 is a revolutionizing and user-friendly solution that enables you to run real applications, e.g. word processing, mail and calendar, or slide show presentation editor, in an ordinary web browser such as Internet Explorer or Mozilla. This means that you never have to install or upgrade any software and you can rest assured that the software you use is free from viruses or other malware. Furthermore, all documents that you create are stored in Xcerion’s secure and reliable data center in standardized, future proof XML format, which you can access from any computer anywhere. In short, no matter where you go, as long as you have Internet access, you’re desktop is there too.

Collaboration and sharing

Ever wished you could see another person’s calendar when making a plan? Or have you ever tried to merge changes in a document from several editors? If you answer yes to any of the above questions you will love XIOS/3 built-in support for collaboration. For example, in XIOS/3 you can create groups of trusted peers and friends on the fly. Any person within such a group can share their calendar and documents. But not only share, documents can even be edited simultaneously. With XIOS/3 there’s no reason to work alone.
