Is Xcerion similar to Linux? Linux is for free? Why not use Linux?
|
Xcerions XIOS and Linux are not really comparable alternatives, less competing. Linux is a highly popular and capable OS commonly used for large servers with emphasis on stability and long uptimes. It consists of about 30 million lines of code, written in traditional programming languages XIOS on the other hand, is a lightweight (<2mb) in-browser, XML based operating system with emphasis on migrating software from the desktop to the Internet. It has been created for making application development become faster and for cross-platform development, only having to develop one version of software, but being able to run it on all popular operating systems. Thus, XIOS and Linux have different objectives and operate in different environments. A stripped down Linux is Xcerions recommended choice for creating a cheap and simple computer with the sole purpose of running XIOS desktop applications on. Xcerion is also using Ubuntu Linux to power the back-end servers of XIOS. XIOS has the potential to become the OS that provides Linux with all the useful desktop applications. | |
